New: 5 Reasons to Use Personalized Address Labels

As the holidays come to a close, planning for those holiday cards and yearly correspondence letters become a very real (and perhaps daunting) task for millions of people all over the world. Holiday greeting cards are a chance to catch up with friends and family members that live far away, letting them know you’re thinking about them, wishing them well and sending well wishes from your home to theirs.

Personalized address labels are a great way to add an extra-personalized touch to your holiday cards. They can also be helpful in implementing this sometimes-overwhelming task — who wants to handwrite all those return addresses? These peel-and-stick personalized address labels are an easy-peasy way to knock out those addresses in no time at all. At Kimball Corner, we’ve compiled five reasons to use personalized address labels to add delight to everything from your holiday card greetings to your everyday correspondence.

#1: Self-Stick Address Labels are Convenient

Have you ever gotten your correspondence together, envelopes stuffed, letters written and envelopes stamped — just to find that the very last task of writing return addresses has been forgotten? The result? It is usually a hastily scrawled address that won’t help anyone out in the event that your letter needs to be returned. Personalized address labels come in convenient sheets and rolls as well as in many different styles — even in large-print styles — so you can tailor your return address needs to your design preference. Keep Miles Kimball’s personalized address labels with your postage stamps so they’re ready to go when you are! No more sloppy return address writing — these convenient, colorful personalized address labels are a welcome addition for both you, for your letter’s recipient — and for the postal service workers who may have to refer to that return address. Remember, too, that many individuals keep and read those return address labels to update their address books each year — so make this task easy for them (especially if you’ve moved in the past year) by adding personalized address labels from Miles Kimball to your cards.

#2: Personalized Labels are Easy to Use

These little additions to your correspondence really couldn’t be easier to use: just peel and stick on the return address section of your envelope for a secure, easy-to-read return address. Whether you prefer a personalized address label sheet of 20 with matching seals or a roll of 200, Miles Kimball has the personalized address labels needed to get that tedious task whipped out in no time at all! Not only are personalized address labels easy to use, they’re also super easy to create. Just click on the blue “Personalize It” button to be taken to our easy-to-use personalization tool. Type out four lines, 25 characters per line, and verify that the information is correct. Hint: Sometimes it is a great idea to have someone else double check your input skills. Ask someone in your house to verify that the information is correct to ensure that no mistakes are present before submitting your order. No one around? Take a photo of your information and send a quick text to a child, a grandchild or a friend you trust to catch any errors. It’s always better to be too cautious than receive an entire order of address labels that have one wrong number or a misspelled street name!

#3: Personalized Address Labels Brighten Your Letters

With personalized address labels from Miles Kimball, you can go basic or go bold. The styling options are truly endless with these clever self-stick add-ons that will make your life exponentially easier. From clear address labels and colorful address labels to personalized address labels that match your Christmas cards’ décor and theme, Miles Kimball has a fantastic assortment of personalized address labels from which to choose. #4: Personalized Address Labels Can Complement Your Holiday Cards

If you’re doing your Christmas card shopping here in Miles Kimball’s Card Shoppe, make sure you check to see if there is a corresponding personalized address label and seal set that matches your Christmas or holiday greeting card selection. Cozy Home? Yes, Please. Five Ways to Cozy it Up This Fall

We think that Dorothy hit the nail on the head: there’s just no place like home. The place where you sleep, hang your hat and relax is inherently special — it is where all your favorite things are; it’s the place where memories are made; it’s filled with your own special comforts. Your home should make you happy. You also should feel good in your space and surround yourself with items you love.

As we’re heading full steam into the chilly fall and winter seasons, you may be looking for home décor pieces and ideas to make your home cozier — you know, achieving special feeling you get when you’re “hunkering down,” listening to the wind, weather and chaos outside and feeling cozy, comforted and calm. Creating a cozy home is easier than you may think and can be achieved with just a few items. Also, creating a cozy home also doesn’t have to cost a lot. Here we’ve provided five tips for creating a cozy home that we think are quick, easy and inexpensive.

Tip #1: Add Some Warm Lighting

Creating a cozy atmosphere can be as simple as turning of those overhead lights (they’re often harsh, unflattering and too bright) and adding several table lamps. There’s nothing cozier on a dreary day than turning on a warm lamp and watching the rain or snow from the comfort of your home. Don’t miss Miles Kimball Lighting and Lighting Accessories department on our website for some home lighting ideas. Add light to a dark corner with a decorative nightlight, add a Himalayan Salt Light to a shelf or add a good set of LED candles to a coffee table. If you need great lamps but are on a very tight budget, second-hand stores are often fantastic places to pick up table lamps. We love the look and the ease of string lights — they can be added above paintings, in plants and on console tables for instant brightness. Purchase string lights you can plug in or opt for battery-operated fairy lights for a magical and cozy effect in your home. Remember, if you’re looking to make your home cozier, opt for “warm” white lights. Cool lights or “outdoor” lighting are great for tasks like reading, crocheting or other crafts. If you’re wanting to achieve a cozy vibe, however, look for “warm” white lights.

Tip # 2: Green it Up

Adding some organic green home décor item can make your home seem instantly cozy. Plants are also beneficial to air quality: through photosynthesis, they use carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Don’t have a green thumb? No worries. There are several plant options available that are easier to tend to than you may think.

Plant beginners (or those who are especially plant challenged) can start with plants that are notoriously hard to kill, such as aloe vera, jade plants and other plants from the succulent family. These plants are much, much easier to overwater and require a hands-off approach to care. (They only really need a good soaking about once a month—or less.) Pothos (pictured above) and spider plants are also easy to care for. They are also easy to propagate (make baby plants with) and don’t need much light. Pothos can be purchased as a hanging plant, too, which adds instant coziness to a corner. Add an inexpensive bracket to a wall (or over a window) and add a hanging pothos plant. Pothos stems can be cut and added to wine bottles, vases or mason jars full of water and scattered throughout your home for extra coziness. Just empty and replace that water twice a month to make sure it doesn’t get dank — these easy plants will thrive in even the darkest rooms and provide a cozy vibe to your home.

For those who REALLY can’t keep plants alive, artificial flowers are often a great option. Today’s artificial flowers and faux plants are unbelievably lifelike and require zero care. Consider artificial hanging stems placed on high shelves, on top of cupboards or on the top of curio cabinets.

Tip # 3: Textiles, Rugs, Throws, Blankets

Nothing says cozy like a soft, cuddly blanket that you can wrap around your shoulders or throw across your lap on a cold night. With today’s options of affordable textiles, rugs and blankets, you can swap out these items seasonally with every season, too. Add several throw blankets across chairs, couches and sectionals for easy comfort and color and to coordinate them with your existing décor. Check out Miles Kimball’s selection of blankets, throws and plush blankets for instant softness. Add a good scattering of throw pillows so everyone has a comfortable place to sit. Add some ottomans and welcoming benches throughout your home where you can add pillows. For those who don’t have carpeted floors, you can create a cozy ambiance with decorative rugs, doormats and rug sets.

Tip # 4: Curtains

There’s just something about shutting the world away, closing curtains and turning on the warm light of lamps in the home. Adding inexpensive curtains to your home can not only keep away chilly drafts, it can soften the look of your home, creating a cozy effect. New room darkening curtains can also control the outside lighting, which is beneficial in spaces like bedrooms. Curtains are also a great seasonal way to swap out your décor. Miles Kimball has a fantastic selection of curtains, room darkening curtains, valances and more that will add some warmth and coziness to every room of your home.

Tip #5: Make it Welcome

Today’s home décor is really focused on being welcoming, grateful and positive. With inspirational sayings, Bible verses and uplifting sentiments, you can add these pieces for a modern cozy feeling. These easy additions to your home can really make guests feel welcome, at home and cozy in your space as well. Large “welcome” signs outside your door and a well-decorated porch can give guests, friends and family members a positive, welcoming vibe before they ever step foot in your door. Adding a large, leafy plant just inside the front door (if space is available) is also a way to cozy up your entryway. Add a console table to your foyer and add a plant, a candle, a lamp and a welcoming, eye-catching home décor item.

See? It’s easy to add some coziness to your home. Have some tips or specific items you use to make your home cozy? Be sure to share them below.

Meaningful Handwritten Notes: From the Heart

There’s a lot of talk today about people feeling isolated, lonely and physically separated from family and loved ones. Because of this, it’s even more important to get back to the basics of communication. This means taking time out each day to let someone know you’re thinking of them by sitting down and writing a personal note, sending a personalized card or even calling them on the phone to let them know you care.

The Importance of Staying in Touch

The importance of staying in touch with others has never been more important than it is today. This means that honing skills like letter writing and personal note writing has become ever more important. Our selection of personalized stationery, note cards and other personalized items at Miles Kimball is a great way to get started. Start slowly by making a goal of writing one personalized note per week — it doesn’t have to be fancy, eloquent or expertly written. Just a quick “Hello, I’m thinking of you and I hope you have a great day,” is a great start. Tell your friend or loved one about the highlights of your week, something special that happened or something that made you smile. Has a cardinal couple been regulars to your bird feeder each morning? Did you enjoy the smell of the rain from an enclosed porch? Is a beautiful flower growing outside your window? The simple fact that an effort was made to stay in touch is often enough to make a world of difference.

Personalized Address Labels

Consider creating a basket full of personalized correspondence goodies from Miles Kimball to send to a loved one who is isolated at this moment. Include our personalized address labels, a set of new pens and some fun postage stamps that are in line with a particular interest of the recipient (such as animals, flowers or inspirational themes). Personalized address labels are a fun and easy way to add some personality to your correspondence and are easy to stick to your envelopes in seconds, saving your hand to write that personalized note inside.

Available in many different styles, colors and designs, our self-stick address label rolls are a delight to receive. Shop label and seal sets that allow you to decorate your envelopes with patriotic themes, holiday themes, religious themes to wildlife, animals and floral decorations. Adorn your envelopes with these labels, address labels, clear address labels and seals in colorful designs.

Personalized Stationery

One doesn’t need a special occasion to get a personalized note in the mail. In fact, we think that it is even more special to receive an unexpected note in the mail when you’re least expecting it. To be honest, the thought of heading to the mailbox to take out more junk mail and advertisements can often be a bit depressing. A handwritten note from a friend or a family member can uplift one’s thoughts and considerably brighten their day. Click on our personalized calendars and stationery to check out our selection of personalized paper goods and accessories, including our self-inking stamps. Add a pocket calendar to a “Thinking of You” card, add a personalized note pad or give someone a towel calendar that they can use throughout the year (and then add to their kitchen collection when the year is over).

Our personalized stationery is great to say everything from “happy birthday,” “hello,” “I miss you” or “hang in there.” Our high-quality note cards and personalized stationery products are available in many different designs and font styles — from traditional script to personalized home state note cards.

Seasonal and Holiday Cards

Of course, the holidays are a fantastic reason to send cards. Personalized Christmas and holiday cards are our specialty at Miles Kimball and our affordable personalized holiday and seasonal cards are not-to-miss sections of the Miles Kimball website. For Christmas and holiday lovers, nothing is more special that receiving and displaying their holiday cards. Luckily, we have a stunning array of holiday cards from which to choose. From religious blessing cards, nostalgic cards, whimsical cards and traditional cards to season’s greeting and nature scenery displays, there are cards that will satisfy every seasonal preference.

Office Organizers and Supplies

If you’re new to sending hand-written thoughts via the mail to loved ones, that’s OK. Getting in the groove with sending love to friends and family members takes just a little organization and will get easier with time. Until then, there are fantastic organizational tools that can help you get your thoughts, dates and supplies in order. For example, we offer a greeting card organizer book that allows you to organize a year’s worth of cards in advance so they’re ready to go each month. (Hint: Our greeting card organizer makes a terrific gift!) Other organizers and dividers can be used, such as our greeting card organizer with dividers or lined index stick-on tabs to help you stay organized, write notes to yourself about when to mail out your correspondence and more. From letter holder baskets and storage bins to magnets and multi-function pens, there is a great selection of office supplies and organization products to get you on track.

Best-Selling Puzzle Books

Who says that expanding the brain can’t be fun? Puzzle books have been popular for decades among adults and children alike. These books contain dozens, or even hundreds, of puzzles that test a person’s knowledge and/or ability to think. In many cases, they develop critical thinking skills — all in a way that’s charming and satisfying for the reader.

But what are the best puzzle books you can own? Seeing which books are popular, and why they are, is a good place to start. Miles Kimball is here to help with this look at our best-selling Brain Games puzzle books for adults and kids. You just might find something that provides hours of entertainment while helping you get a little smarter!

Word Puzzle Books

By far, the most popular puzzle books we sell — and the most popular puzzles period, for that matter — are word puzzles. As the name suggests, these puzzles involve working with words.

The two most common word puzzles are word search books and crossword puzzle books. Despite its popularity, word searches are one of the newest puzzle forms; they were created in 1968. To complete them, one must find all words on a provided list within a grid of letters. The words usually involve a certain theme and might be side-to-side, up-and-down, diagonal or even backward. Word finds can be a real brain challenge for children but are primarily a source of amusement for adults. Alternate versions involve finding words within a picture or using the remaining letters to form a phrase.

Crossword puzzles, which were created in 19th-century England, add knowledge and critical thinking to the mix. A grid of white- and black-shaded squares is provided, and the reader must fill the white squares with words or phrases by solving the provided clues. The clues can be as simple or as complicated as you want, meaning that all ages can test themselves with the right puzzle.

Both of these puzzle types fall into the larger category of paper-and-pencil word games. There are also letter arrangement games (e.g. word scrambles) and semantic games (e.g. Mad Libs). However, these are not as popular in book form. They’re most often seen in compilation books, book sets (pictured above) or in themed books that build puzzles around knowledge of a certain subject (such as our John Wayne puzzle book).

Picture Puzzle Books

Connect the dots puzzles are the third-most-popular type of puzzle book we sell behind word searches and crosswords. This puzzle — sometimes referred to as dot-to-dot or join the dot — is a form of a picture puzzle. Each page in the book has numbered dots spread across the sheet. (Letters can be used, too.) Drawing lines to connect them in the correct order creates a certain object such as a car or tree. These are some of the best puzzle books for kids as they test a young brain’s counting and sequencing ability. As a bonus, children can then engage their creativity by coloring in the picture.

This is by far the most common type of picture puzzle book we sell. However, you can find some other versions in our puzzle compilations and collections. Comparison puzzles are a popular way of testing one’s attention to detail. They involve placing two similar pictures side by side and asking the reader to find the differences between them. Sticker-by-number books are a fun variation of paint-by-number that doesn’t make a huge mess. The Hangman guessing game combines words and pictures for a classic good time, and the book versions create a one-player version by making the letters scratch-off clues.

Keep Your Mind Working

A puzzle collection is a great way to stimulate the brain, pass the time and have fun with. Take a break from the TV or gossip sites and test yourself with the best puzzle books for ages 5 to 95. They’re also an excellent gift for a family member or friend. Miles Kimball has been trusted for generations and will help you find unique puzzle books at affordable prices.

Logic Puzzle Books

Perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising that the most challenging puzzle category comes in here. But make no mistake: these are great books for anyone to own. These adult puzzle books keep your cognitive muscles active well into old age by expanding logic, reasoning, creative thinking and more. Our top-selling Sudoku books are a great example of this. Readers are provided with a 9×9 grid that’s subdivided into nine 3×3 blocks and partially filled with numbers. They must fill the remaining boxes so that all columns, rows and blocks contain the numbers 1 to 9. This puzzle type, which became popular in the 1980s, combines memory and logic while requiring high concentration.

The deductive reasoning book Who Done It? is another great way to test your skills. The reader is presented with a variety of brain challenges with a spy theme. They might need to solve a math riddle, answer comprehension questions after reading a paragraph of text or plan a mission using certain parameters. The best part is that some of the puzzles can be solved in multiple ways, meaning you can do them again later and find improved or alternative solutions.
